Our Definition of Success
“What do you want to be when you grow up?” is a question we often pose to young children and again when they are high school seniors or college students. The answers tend to vary as we get older. From garbage truck drivers and police officers to teachers and doctors, our ambitions change as we grow. Recently, we featured a blog post by a newly hired Custom Concrete employee, Jeff Wheeler, who never wavered from his dream to work with heavy equipment. And while people like Jeff exist, and we’re certainly thankful for them, they are rare. All too often we depend on the advice of the folks around us to help us mold an idea of what our ambition should be and before you know it, the dream of being a plumber is replaced and forgotten.
There is pressure everywhere to be successful; however, there are many different definitions of success. Success to one person may mean feeding a family of seven each week. To another, success may come in the form of a luxury car or a trip to Europe. At Custom Concrete, we define success as a job well-done.
Success comes from empowering our employees, customers and community to do more for others. The work we do each day literally provides a foundation for those around us who are seeking a new home or workplace, and we take great pride in that.
We know not everyone grows up wanting to pour a foundation or work long hours on a muddy jobsite, but we like to think most people want to be our kind of successful. That’s what makes Custom Concrete different. We don’t just offer a job for our employees, but a home. In fact, we just honored six employees who have found success with us for a combined 125 years! They aren’t retiring, either.
A job well-done starts with waking up in the morning and putting your feet on the ground. It’s arriving safely to a job you love and back home each night. It’s providing for your family and loved ones. It’s giving back to the community that surrounds you. It’s finding what you are really good at and doing it to the best of your ability every single day.
On behalf of all of us here at Custom Concrete, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season and a New Year full of success!
